Autologous fat application is increasingly being used for breast and other reconstructive procedures as a ‘natural lipo filler’. Our fat is the body’s major source of mesenchymal stem cells, which are considered ‘multi-potent’ or ‘pluripotent’, as they have the ability to differentiate themselves into a number of different types of stem cells that are useful for wound healing, tissue repair and regeneration.
